Who Guided Me

Acrylic and Ink on Paper

2023

In this work Chapin-McGill charts an internal landscape of memory and direction. Lines, signals, and shifting pathways move across the surface like a coded map, suggesting routes that appear only as they are traveled. Along the perimeter, abstract figures emerge as witnesses and navigators, presences that seem to recognize the terrain even when the traveler does not. The composition reflects the experience of moving through uncertain moments guided by instinct, memory, and unseen support. What first appears unfamiliar gradually reveals its own quiet logic. The work carries a realization that echoes throughout the artist’s life: even in unknown territory, guidance is present for those willing to follow the signs.
