Long before returning to the south of France, Chapin-McGill was a young student studying French and dreaming of Paris. Like many young women of that time, she imagined a world of fashion houses, runways, and the elegance of Chanel — a distant life that felt both glamorous and impossibly far away. Her first journey to Europe set that dream in motion. Driving from Paris to Firenze, she stepped into an adventure that hinted at a larger story still unfolding. Years passed before France revealed itself again. In this watercolor, fluid blues evoke Mediterranean light and shifting horizons while figures and pathways move like memories traveling through time. The work reflects a quiet truth: some chapters in our lives unfold slowly. Time circles back when we are ready to continue the story.
