Nwika Wood, Metal, Wire

Edmond Nassa is an artist born and raised in Ouagadougou, the capital of Burkina Faso. After studying sculpture for four years at the Centre National des Arts in Ouagadougou, Edmond further honed his craft through fellowships in France and Italy, for an additional two years. Edmond has hosted successful exhibitions in Burkina Faso, Italy, France, and Washington, D.C. Edmond’s work has garnered him publication in the World Bank Art Publication’s Africa Now! Emerging Talents from a Continent on the Move in 2009. Currently based in Washington, D.C., Edmond’s medium is wood, primarily, though he often incorporates other materials such as metal, wire, and paint to capture the essence of each carefully constructed piece. Edmond views his work as a collaboration between him and his medium; each sculpture personifies a conversation between his personal feelings and the feelings exuded from each material used in the sculpting process.
