"The Stories We Went Looking For" Exhibition

AoN is excited to announce the exhibition of “The Stories We Went Looking For” featuring the works of Greta Chapin-McGill, curated by Felix Etienne-Edouard Pfeifle.

This exhibition grew out of something very simple and very personal. Both the curator, Felix, and I had experiences where we asked our grandmothers about something in our family history, and we received almost the same answer. “I never heard that story.” “I never heard that circulated.”

Those responses stayed with me. They didn’t feel dismissive. They felt protective. Loving, even. But they also revealed how much of women’s history, especially within families, lives in quiet spaces. During Women’s History Month, we often celebrate public accomplishments. This exhibition looks at the private ones — the moments women carried, endured, or protected without ever naming them. The Stories We Went Looking For is about choosing to gently turn toward those silences. Not to expose them, but to honor them. The work maps memory, guidance, and inheritance. It asks a very human question: who guided us through what we did not yet understand? I hope viewers leave thinking about the women in their own families — the stories that shaped them, even if those stories were never fully told.

During this exhibition, gallery hours are Thursday-Saturday, 12pm-6pm & free to the public.
